• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Fixing an existing mdl with MCX

The investigation goes on (and on, and on...) :
I successfully compiled the unaltered files with XtoMDLUI (Thank you Essex). Tests in FSX show the same glitches as with the MCX MDL : wrong tooltips and missing mouserects.

In order to test the tools, I compiled the files from the default Beaver. Everything runs then fine in FSX, the only weird thing i s that the prop pitch lever reads "antidetonation %".
I still have to test if the default MDL features the same labelling.

So I'm getting confident that the modeldef.xml from the Seabee MDL needs more attention. Corrected a few typos already, so others must explain the missing mouserects and mixed-up tooltips...

Hello Essex,

I didn't know which version I was using, so I have updated to the latest dev version available without any change in the result.

Back to basics, so now I am focusing on achieving with the default DHC-2 what I want to fix on the Seabee.
- The default Beaver displays the correct prop pitch tooltip, the X then MDL exports replace this with "antidetonation %".
- Inverting the mixture lever animation frames in the xanim WORKS : cut-off when full forward, full rich when full backward. The mouse drag movement is still the default one, what makes sense

Everything is not lost. So I keep digging!

PS : When reassigning the lever_prop_pitch mouserect to... well the prop pitch lever, the tooltip is back to normal! Hurrah!

Now I know how to fix pretty much everything (until the next issue :D). Seabee here I come!
Thank you Essex and Heretic for your help.

Oh boy! A brand new world of opportunities has come out ! So many mods, only limited by my own imagination!
Hmm, well, I may be have got a little bit carried away, but my last endeavours are really making me happy: not only I have been able to fix 95% of the Seabee model, but I have modded a few other things without much trouble (hiding the whole control column, changing the com1/standby freq knob control).

So a huge thank you to Arno for the MCX tool, the forum and to the contributors!
