Maybe someone can help me out. I am getting a lot of stuttering and screen flashes in FSX (not steam). I was wondering if someone could give me the best optimal settings for my system.
System Info.
Dell Optiplex 980
i7 Intel processor running at 2.93Ghz Quad core
Ram:12GB
Main drive (where FSX is installed, wouldn't run correctly on any other drive) :SSD 2TB
Dual monitor #1:32" dell #2:26" dell
GPU :Nvidia 960 (Don't know the exact specs but it's got 4GB RAM)
All drivers are up-to-date
Windows 11 Pro Version 23H
Right now all settings are set at the mid point range except for scenery which is set the highest and the special effects are set to mid point.
If you need all of my current settings let me know and I will get them.
I have done the HIGHMEMFIX=1 thing and some other CFG mods I found on the web. I'm still getting serious stuttering and lots of screen flashes, mostly with daytime flying, not so much at night, but they are still there. This seemed to happen a few weeks ago for no apparent reason. I've tried creating a new CFG and that didn't help any. I played with the sliders and nothing seems to help. Like I said, everything seemed to be working quite nicely and smoothly until a couple of weeks ago and it's gradually getting worse making my flying experience intollerable. It's not fun anymore with all the screen flashes and stuff going on. I want it back like it was. I know my GPU is one of the older ones ,but it's been working perfectly until now, I was actually able to use the higher slider settings when I first got the GPU (had an AMD1600 series and it didn't cut it. Found this one on Ebay for a few bucks and it worked great for a few weeks.) I tried rolling back my Nvidia driver thinking it might have been the update causing the problem, but that wasn't it. I have re-installed the updated driver and still the problem remains. What else can I do or try? Does anyone have a list of mods for the CFG that would work on my (mid point system, not quite low end but has been sufficient for FSX for a long time with no issues until now).Oh, I'm not running any background Addons or services except what is needed by windows to function.Oh I'm also using DirectX9, wouldn't work with 10. Please help!
