• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

For the lack of not knonwing where else to put this ...

I'm having a bit of a problem here with an add on package (its not functioning).

I am assuming it is probably due to my ignorance in installing the packages in proper sequence.

I have the deluxe version ... so my install goes like this ...

FSX Deluxe
FSX SDK
FSX Acceleration
FSX SDK patch 1a
FSX Patch 2
FSX SDK Patch 2

Am I correct?

Hi,

What kind of addon are you trying to install?

Your installation order is not OK. When you have the Acceleration Pack, there is no need to install SP2. You should install the SDK version from the Acceleration disk.

FSX installation order:

FSX Deluxe
FSX SDK
FSX SP1
FSX SDK SP1a
FSX Acceleration (FSX SP2 included)
FSX SDK 2 (from Acceleration)

Q: If you're doing a "clean" install, shouldn't it go:

FSX-Deluxe
FSX-SDK
FSX-Acceleration
FSX-ACceleration SDK

Off the top of my head, I do not know if Acceleration has SP1 and SP1a.
I already had it installed and didn't even bother to check other than reading that SP1 needed to be installed before you installed SP2 (and to remove the non-Acceleration version of SP2 and then install the Acceleration SP2 ver.).

If it is available on Acceleration, then Yes, your "Clean Install" is correct.

Guess I'll find out when I do my yearly disc wipe and re-install everything. :)

Hey guys it took me a bit to find where this thread ended up as I posteded someplace else and Arno moved it here.

(thanks for that ... thought I was dreaming I did this!)

I'm trying to get ADE to work with my setup but for some reason it's failing to recognize the simconnect thing I guess from what Jon says.

So I'm thinking a complete wipe and reinstall would probably be in order ...

So I wanted to make sure I had everything all tidy before atempting to put ADE to use one more time.

I apprecaite the help.

<edit> While I'm here let me ask what would seem to be a fairly easy question, yet one that the answer too aludes me.
When an airport/airfield is listed by Lat & Lon ... where are the primary coordinates located? If I'm gonna be working in ADE, and putting airfields in I want to make sure I have them located properly. Thanks again! </edit>

Airport coord. are... shall we say, somewhere on the property.
There is no real specific scientific formula on the location (at least that I am aware of, but... I could be wrong :D), but somewhere near the center of the airfield.

Thanks Difar. I thought maybe it located the Control Tower ... but apparently not.

Well I'm off to scrape the old install of FSX and Simconnect and etc off my drive and see if I can't install it properly this time so ADE will work.

The Airport Reference Point (ARP) is indeed not always on a similar location, but most of the time it is somewhere in the middle of the airport. But it does not have to be the control tower or the center of a runway or so.

If you`re still getting the same problems then do it this way. You don`t have to match each part of the SDK in the logical order of FSX as long as you end up with the correct last part. That doesn`t make a lot of sense, but just remember this-every part of the SDK deletes part if not all of the last, so it doesn`t need to match the order of the FSX install. Try it in order like this.....

NON ACCELERATION INSTALL:

(1) FSX Deluxe (then start FSX to any scenario-so it builds files, then exit)

(2) FSX SP1 (then start FSX to any scenario-so it builds files, then exit)

(3) FSX SP2-download version (then start FSX to any scenario-so it builds files, then exit). Now start the SDK install routine.

(4) SDK base from the disk

(5) SDK SP1a from download

(6) SDK SP2 from download

ACCELERATION INSTALL:

(1) FSX Deluxe (then start FSX to any scenario-so it builds files, then exit)

(2) FSX SP1 (then start FSX to any scenario-so it builds files, then exit)

(3) FSX Acceleration (FSX SP2 included), do not install the downloaded SP2 version with this. Make sure you go to a scenario and then exit as above, then start the SDK install routine.

(4) SDK base from the disk

(5) SDK SP1a from download or from the Acceleration disk in the SP1a folder

(6) SDK SP2 from the Acceleration disk. Do not install the SDK SP2 download version.

I do it like this all the time and have no problems with anything finding files and/or the SDK.
