• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

[FS9] tower illumination

hi gents,

I am wondering if it is possible to construct the following visual appearance of a night lighting:

* I have a tower object with a glas shape that shall be lit during nighttime in different colors and in a defined sequence
* the sequence of illumination starts in the middle of the building - the light is spreading slowly over the whole shape
* the second color starts to shine at the lower part of the shape and is spreadign slowly upwards
* the third color starts to shine at the upper part of the shape and is spreadign slowly downwards
* the entire sequence has a duration of about one minute

hm. I hope that I expressed this topic correctly and understandable. It sounds very challenging and to be honest I dont have an idea how to construct such a kind of effect.

Any ideas?

hi José,

interesting idea. But I think that the effect I am looking for is somewhat like a very slow 'explosion' of light. Not single defined windows shall be lit but the entire shape of the building.

I do not know whether or not you are knowing the tower in LOWW/Vienna-Schwechat. In reality it has a fassade that is lit similar like I described. From the backside the fassade is lit with different colors in a certain sequence. The colors are blended smoothly.

So what I am thinking about is to proceed investigating the 'explosion'-concept. Another possibility in theory could be to work with an animation of the texture itself - but I have no idea whether or not this works in FS9.

Hi,

Animation of textures have been treathed before here on the forum I think. Do a little search... and I fear it's not possible.... but I hope it can be done. It would be fantastic.

need a little help ...

hi gents,

does anybody know which section of the effect-file is responsible for this result:

I want to add a light-effect which shall look like a dimmer-controlled illumination: it shall last for about 20 seconds. My intention is to very slowly "turn on" the light and to fade out the light at the end of the lifetime.

help would be appreciated

pumping up the question...

just once again:
