FSDS 3.5.1 can't find FS9

Hi All,

I'm sure someone has had to run into this already...

The Upgrade, 3.5.1, finds FSX OK but can not locate FS9. I have edited the registry, to no avail.

Installed paths:

FS9 - C:\FS9
FSX - C:\FSX

I have "renamed" C:\FS9 to C:\FS2004, since it appears that 3.5.1 is looking for FS2004. I have changed the path info in the respective registry entries:

Registry entries changed:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Abacus\FSDesign35\Paths\FSPath
(I have tried C:\FS9, C:\FS2004) I even added a new string value (FS9Path = C:\FS9), started 3.5.1 and checked the registry. 3.5.1 "added" a new string value of FSXPath = C:\FSX, so I'm assuming that the FSPath string value is not cast in stone. No luck with any of the above...

When I change the the FSPath in "FSDesign3" to C:\FS2004, then uninstall 3.5.1, delete the registry for 3.5.1, remove the folder for 3.5, do a cold reboot, reinstall the 3.5.1 software... the new registry entry for "FSDesign35" shows an FSPath entry of C:\FS2004 (prior to running 3.5.1 for the initial time), so I know it is getting the correct info from the previous version yet it still can not find FS9.

I did notice that the registry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0 had no entry of AppPath, as does the entry for 10.0. I added the AppPath to the 9.0 registry, but it did not seem to change anything.

Could 3.5.1 be looking in the Programs folders for FS9? It seems to me that I read a thread on this, don't know if it was here or elsewhere, but can't locate it now. Sorry for the repost if it is on this board.

Frustrating,
Larry

I had this happen today when installing FSDS 3.5.1.

I managed to use the compile/browse option to force it to use FS2004 and the FS2004 SDK locations. It seemed to work OK but only after uninstall, restart and a reinstall of FSDS3.5.1 after the initial install.

Thnx for the info. Guess I'll try reinstalling FS9 into the default folder and see if that helps.
