FSDS v3 to .asm for CAT

OK- I've successfully created objects in FSDSv3, successfully added animation, and converted them to EZ Scenery objects. (I do have the initial exploded objects (animated ones only) problem when first added in EZ Scenery until a FS9 reboot - but I figure that will be corrected at some point and I can live with that.)

I would like to use CAT on some of my objects and have spent the last 3 hours reading messages trying to find out how to get a .asm file out of FSDSv3 for use with CAT.

Can this be done?

TIA

Hi Ron,

Yes, it can be done. I am not 100% if it is because of my setup, but FSDS3 saves the ASM files in its own root by default on my PC. The files are called _temp.asm and _temp_0.asm. You can then use these for any tweaks you want.

One warning, at the moment CAT does not work correctly with these files. I have almost finished an update that will fix this, but I still need to finish a few things on that version. I hope it is available soon.

Arno, thanks for the reply.

Boy, sometimes I'm amazed I can find my computer, much less use it! I thought I'd checked all the _temp files in the FSDS3 directory. I'd swear there were no _temp.asm or _temp_0.asm files there, but I checked again and there they are!

But at least I know to wait for an update before using them!

You can also export as a .x file from FSDS3, and then load it into makemdl.exe directly. When you create a .mdl file, you will have the option to "keep files" in makemdl.exe.

The updated version of CAT, v1.02, is now available and it also works with FSDS3 created ASM files now.

Boy, that was fast service!

Downloaded the new CAT version and it worked just fine with FSDS3- thanks for all your work!
