• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX 64K Polygon Material Limit wiped out!

Hello Bill,

My experience with FSX exports so far is that I am hitting the 65535 limit (because of materials, I think). I also have one complex camera pod part/object that I may need to retopologize in Blender.

I did manage to find P3D SDK V2 on my system. (luckily had a zip file stored) I downloaded P3D V1 from the link on this site. I will play with the different exporters and see how it goes with Blender 3.6.5.

How are you finding designing for MSFS2020 compared to how it was for FSX? My aircraft is first being built for FSX because the friend I am building it for only has FSX. But I might want to later try to port it into MSFS2020.

Thanks for your comments! :)

I prefer to use the XtoMDL from the v1.4 SDK with the last patch that was released for it (1.4.6787.0). It's no longer available, but I've kept a copy backed up on my system.

Hello Hughes,

Do you still have this patch available. I would love to get a copy for my FSX workflow. PLease PM me or whatever is appropriate.

Thanks a lot! :)

The latest SDK for P3D v1.4 or FSX (
including the SE version )is rhe one mentioned above. There isn't a patch for it of any kind. The latest version is v1.4.6787.0.

The vertices/ materials limit is FSX (SE) not Blender's. There is at least 1k vertices that you can remove, I'm sure.

The SDK 1.4 available from here on the site is Prepar3D_SDK_1.4.4747.0. I was able to find the 64 bit XtoMDL update to version 1.4.6787.0 using the wayback machine.

Here it is if anyone still needs it.
