• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Compile Problem

Using FSDS 3.5.1 and ADE 1.78.7298; I have come upon a compile problem in ADE. In FSX mode, I get this error message. In P3D 4 mode, the same model works perfect.
All other addon's compile fine except this one model. Any suggestions? Get no error messages in FSDS or MCX.

This seems to be something to do with the version of the mdl you created. Can you please post the mdl file and textures?
 
I was trying to help. I had the same problem, even recompiled as fsx mdl no go and then fs9 makemdl no go. He and I both use FSDS. this is his model. Maybe his FSDS is pointing to the wrong xtomdl in his SDK? bob
 
I have it but the folder contains a lot of mdl files - are they all the same or is one of these causing the problem?
 
OK This is the second one of these that I have seen. The mdlType (defines the type of mdl) is shown as PV20 which was introduce in P3Dv2. The Type recognized by FSX is MDLX. This is why it compiles in P3D but not FSX. There is another thread here with the same problem I am not sure what the answer was. ADE should probably check the validity of the type against the sim but the result would be the same. Somehow you need to generate the MDL for FSX
 
Edit: I'm not sure where that is coming from. The P3D 1.4 SDK XtoMDL program creates files with the MDLX header, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I think we are talking about the SDK and compilers for P3D v2. The mdl is somehow being created for that version. It is strange because the tools used are of the same vintage as FSX. But there is no doubt that the mdlType is not MDLX.

buongiorno a tutti sono nuovo nel forum Marcello, ho lo stesso problema nel compilare questo aereoporto ,tempo fa lo avevo modificato ed è andata bene ,senza il file mdl che poi nn so neanche come crearlo,adesso lo stavo modificando dinuovo ma mi da sempre questo errore appana inserisco le thumbnails,ed anche nn le inserisco è lo stesso,come posso procedere? grazie

good morning everyone I'm new in the forum Marcello, I have the same problem in compiling this airport, some time ago I had modified it and it went well, without the mdl file which then I don't even know how to create it, now I was modifying it again but it always gives me this error appana I insert the thumbnails, and also nn I insert them is the same, how can I proceed? thank you
