• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Flaps Animation... ARRGHHH!!!!

Hey guys,

Um... Woooot shall I use for flaps? Nothing is working. I used every single one of them and flaps never return to zero position.

Shall I have park (nuetral/retracted) position as up in the air (reversed) and overextend them down and use l_flap_neg_percent?

I have tried every single one of these darn animations, and non will return back to up position.

The Epic LT flaps worked brilliantly at 'l_flap_percent'.

Any thoughts?

Bill

Flaps are simple..

keyframe animate from 0 (full up) to 100 (full down).

Using FSX Animation Tool:

Object Anims "l_flap_percent_key"
Start: 0
End: 100

Note: obviously for the right side, use "r_flap_percent_key"... ;)

Hey Bill,

Well, I had tried that and that didnt work. It would start out at about 5 or 7 degrees and move from there..

Robert Kerr suggested inputing some stop points (there is a total of 4, 3 notches available plus up), and going back through the animations again, I found yours to work.

:D

Horrible when a person can lose 2 days of time on an animation.

Great that you have it, Bill
but what are 2 Days of Horrible trying.

Nothing, against my 2 Weeks to configure it out to see my VC in FS. :D
With the Help of the 2 Bill´s I have it now. Thanks again.

Hey Sandra,

Yep. Man, I wish things went by faster in this. I worked on my fuel switches since September. Too long.

I think you will love doing VC's. They have some really neat things you can do with them, like animating the wildest little things, like objects insides a map box, placing little surprizes here and there.

I have always enjoyed making high resolution parts in them, and just recently started doing placcards on floating/hovering polygons. That way the writing on the placcard can be very high resolution and the panel doesnt need to be a high resolution. Helps out..
