• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Scenery.cfg

Hello!

I am experimenting with different scenery settings in the "Scenery Library" of FSX and I am looking for some help.

When I change under "Settings" manually the entries in the "Scenery Libraries", FSX remembers it all right after close-down and offers the changed configuration after a new start.
But the "Scenery.cfg" remains unchanged.
My question is: where and under which name is this new configuration stored?

In comparison, the FS9 has a temporary storage for changes in the "newscenery.cfg", which after a new start becomes the new "Scenery.cfg".

Where is the equivalent in FSX?

I hope that somebody has an answer for me.

Many thanks

Helli

In both WinXP and Vista, the "real, working scenery.cfg file" is located in the same folder as the fsx.cfg file...

the user's AppData folder...

Hello Bill!

thanks for helping me.

I was not aware of a "scenery.cfg" in the AppData folder.

But I am sorry to have to say, that none of the two CFGs do carry the changes, which I brought about by changing the "Scenery Libraries". Both contain the default data from 12.09.2006.

The changes must be stored elsewhere.

In XP, the scenery.cfg is located in "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX"

Hello my good friends.

Thanks for your explanations. I had searched all over the place, but in the "All Users"-folder, there I did not.

Now that the secret is lifted, I can move on.

Many thanks again for your help
