• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

FSX SDK Update SP1A

Hi,

Just downloaded the SDK SP1A update from the FS insider web site.
On the download page it says:

Please note that this update requires the installation of the original SDK from the Deluxe version of FSX.

It's unusual that this would not be an incremental update, but that we have to remove the current SDK (if updated) and re-install the one from the DVD. Am I understanding this correctly ?

Cheers,
Siggy

Hi Siggy,

I am not sure if it means that. Because I have beta tested the SDK SP1A before, I had to remove that and actually ended up installing a clean SDK from the DVD and then applying the SP1A.

But I think if you have SP1 installed normally, the SP1A should go over it without trouble.

I think the message is mainly to indicate that you need to have the SDK already and that you can not use it with the Standard version of FsX.

SP1 if FSX installed directly over my FSX installation. The FSX SDK SP1a looked for my SDK (SP1) and then removed it and installed the new one. I did not need to use anything from the DVD not other files such as SDK SP1.

If not on the Beta, you don't need to uninstall anything... but please do run the SDK's "ConfigSDK.exe" to properly set the paths after the FSX SDK SP1a update.

Siggy,

This is simply ACES way of ensuring that only owners of the full, DELUXE (Professional in Europe) version have access to the SP1a content.

If you already have the SDK installed, just run the SP1a package. It will do all the rest for you. ;)

Hi,

Have a question...

If you already have the SDK installed, just run the SP1a package. It will do all the rest for you.

Will it change only the map SDK's or also those files in GMAX ?
Is it better to make a backup of the present SDK map and GMAX before installing SP1A ?

Greetz. José.

Hi Jose,

Only the SDK files are changed, you will have to copy the GMax gamepack into GMax yourself again. It should not affect any files that were not part of the SDK, but if you put a lot of your own files in those folders again making a backup might never hurt of course.
