Hi ,
I ran into a problem, trying to make the cockpit windows of a Huey in FSX a bit more transparent, as the view from inside was too dark for my liking by default.
So I found the relevant .dds texture, opened it in DXTBmp and then exported its alpha channel to my picture editor, where I darkened the alpha to
increase its transparency. I saved the edit as 4bit alpha and re-imported it into the .dds via DXTBmp.
When I booted up FSX, I found that my edit had its desired effect, the glass has become more transparent. However my edit had a undesired side effect.
The windows on the cockpit ceiling , which originally had a green tint (for shading against sunlight) have completely lost their color and are now fully transparent / invisible.
Can somebody explain to me why that happened and ideally how to keep the green tint along with the more transparent main windows?
Below is a picture, for illustration , I copy pasted the .dds and its (newly edited) alpha side by side. Before my alpha edit the alpha looked the same, just less dark, therefore less transparent in FSX. The green shaded window area is still in a distinct separate tone than the the rest on the alpha , so I really don't understand why the green color doesn't render in the sim anymore.
Thanks a lot in advance! Flapsfull
