• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX - Simulate the rain 's effects on a windshield

Hello,

My question is very simple: on FS2004, rain's effect can be modelised but it's possible on FSX ? Someone succed in that project ? :scratchch

You can use a gauge for rain when still, and another when moving. The gauge should have a (0,0,0) black background so that whatever isn't water, is see-through.
Or you can do a lot of visibility conditions in modeldef.xml where glass meshes raindrop textures appear in sequence. It will be a bit "jerky" with the animated version, though.

Thanks you very much !

yesterday, when I finish to post my questio I find some topics about this subject but all the answers I find, were negative.

So, your link is a opportunity to solve this problème. If I understand: it's a lot of works for a little result .... I will try just for the fun :D

Thanks Alexis and Mjahn

I insist that making a gauge with a moving rain texture and mapping it on the canopy glass would be much easier and effective, if you know how to code 2D gauges.

Otherwise, you're going to get your temper tested. :)

I've reverted to use a static rain texture.
Implementing moving rain has more drawbacks than benefits. The animation is very complicated and only looks convincing on perfectly flat front windows.
