• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX SP1 is Live

FSX SP1 has been released to the FSX beta community for testing. We are still on-track to deliver FSX SP1 before the end of April.

Note that the beta community is under NDA, and that we are still unable to provide many specifics as to what SP1 covers (until it is finished baking, we don't want to "promise" something that we might have to withhold).

Hi,

Downloaded the FSX Service Pack 1.
Saw also the item about "a new VS 2005 redistributable file, named "vcredist_x86.exe". What about that ? I searched on my PC but didn't find anything... and now I should install this file... and delete the old one (has the old file a name so that I can see which version it has ?).
Will it be beter to make a "system recovery point" first ?

It is a separate download and the link is on the SP1a download page. You need it if you plan to use C++ with VS2005 and FSX.

Yes I would say so - if you are not developing programs using Visual Studio 2005 and Visual C++ then I do not think it will be needed. I have VS2005 and develop applications but don't use C++ so I have not downloaded it.

Hmmm I am sure Doug will confirm the requirement of this but a bit further reading seems to indicate that this is a Visual C++ runtime redistributable required to help some third party add ons run correctly.

Yep, that's just the VStudio SP1 Redist package, we put it there for folks who were having problems with any addons built with VS SP1 (FSX wasn't built with VS SP1, so we don't ship that version of the files and some 3rd party addons also don't ship them with their own installer, so this just makes it easier to find)
