• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA FSX Static Harrier

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a decent Harrier model that can be used as a static aircraft in FSX? I can add one using Traffic Explorer, but I want to share the scenery / AI Carrier I'm making along with static aircraft on the deck, so ideally I want to attach the Harrier [perhaps animated] model to the carrier in Gmax.

Any help would be very much appreciated. ;)

Hey, hello Brian, good to see you here!

I'm looking for GR7's or / and 9's, but under the circumstances a bit of 'virtual poetic license' could be allowed!

Thanks for the reply ;)

Hi,

Only if for FSX:
You will find plenty AI harriers for fs2004.
Depending on the model, using Arno's ModelconverterX and Library Object Creator, you might be able to use the mdl and make a library object out of it (as scenery and aircraft mdl's are the same in FSX).
That would make the perfect static Harrier.

Hi robystar,

Thanks for the suggestion, but could you give me a bit more detail about how I import the FS2004 model? ModelconvertorX is an amazing little tool, but I can only see import formats in API, SCM, Scasm, FSX MDL and BGL type files.

Hi,

I am afraid I have to apologize for giving you false hope.
I was convinced I had done it before but when I tried to repeat it, it failed several times. It must have therefore been scenery mdl's.
My mistake, sorry. Will try again anyway.
Reason for my mistake: I managed to do it the other way round: scenery mdl into AI aicraft.mdl.

Hi again robystar,

Absolutely no problem at all, your suggestion gave me opportunity to try out Arnos Modelconvertor X! Thanks anyway :)
