Hi everybody ;)

I have finally found an effect which could work for my apron. There are two things I would like to change, make the texture a little bit more yellow as you can see on attachment. When I did this with photoshop it did look quite good and the effect was not so bright in day time. So far good, but the visibility of
the light effect did decrease enormous.

Does anyone have some good medicine to solve this problem or could anybody make me a copy of the default bmp with the yellow color ? (please)

Your help is most appreciated.

Floda

P.S. Could not attache the texture directly D.S

Hi again, I'm back.

Hold them horses as Gary Cooper ones said !

I solved the texture problem . After converting the bmp.file to dds. format it shows the ground light at far distance . It's a pity that it lightens up the apron
in day time but one can not have all.

One day I will find apron lights which not show up in day time. (I hope)

Have a nice weekend all of you.

Floda

Hi,

It should not light up the apron during daytime.
If it is an effect attached to a scenery object, you have to set conditions for the effect to display: day=0;night-=1.
And if you want to have the effect showing up at dawn and dusk, you will have to add/attach another instance of the effect tagged 'dawn=1;dusk=1'.

Bonjour Roby.;)

It is like music to me when you are barging in. You know me by now , I have to be treated like a novice. Where is the place to add "day=0"
As usual I attache a picture to explain my question.

Roby I owe you one when you come to Sweden.

Best regards:

Floda

Morning,

From what I can see in your screenshot, you have added an effect to your scenery with ADE.
I think there are two ways of proceeding:
- Either you add a controller to your effect but I think that is too complicated;
- Or you take your light pole object, open the mdl or bgl with MCX, click on the attached object editor and add your effect. Where it says effect parameters in the pop up screen click on '...' to specify day=0;night=1.
Add another instance of your effect and specify dawn=1;dusk=1. Recompile your light pole and things should work.

Roby- I'm getting no answer in Skype now from Floda. Perhaps he might think I am a spammer or something. :) Is he talking about the light splash on the ground? These are supposed to be from the lamps.

I got confused when he said apron lights. I always thought of apron lights as those that ring the edge of the apron. Oh well.

I looked at the zip. That's bit too yellow but then it's all personal choice. the yellow he ended up with is done very nicely, however.

When he changed to DDS he said the lights show up farther away now. Could it be that the bmp had mipmaps and the dds he changed to does not have mipmaps, therefore there is more ddtail at a distance. Makes sence but ya never know! :)

Anyway The pic he sent looks good! Bob

Hi Bob,

I do not think he has Skype installed yet, has he?
I do not have the pics he sent you. I can only see the pics attached in his thread here. And those lights are light poles with effects added (like Jim Dhaenen's ones in the download section here) but without the light poles just the effects.
It is the first time I hear that converting bmp into dds influences visibility.

I think it is as I described; at least it seems like it. No pics have been sent to me.

If he does not have Skype yet, then the Floda I tried to contact is the wrong one. :) oops! That guy respoded with, "Who r u?" I explained.... no answer, yet.

Hi Roby !

I just want to tell you that skype is installed and I had the best chat ever with
Bob,he is a real buddy ! We did chat for at least 3hrs and he showed me a lot trix and nice stuff. I am still groggy !
I look forward for the second chat this night and if you dare I invite for a skype
chat later this afternoon. I can now merge a pole to an effect but still not make the pole (polygon) invisible.
