• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 glTF support for ModelConverterX

Hi,

I don't think many objects need such large sheets. The support was mainly added for X-Plane where it is a hard requirement to use only one sheet.

Hey Arno, I was adjusting the Roughness/Metallic settings between 0-1 and accidentally typed in "4" for the roughness. It worked and had a clear effect in the SIM dulling sun reflections.
The result I was after was actually in the 0-1 range although I was surprised to see Roughness >1 having an real effect in the SIM?

Hi,

MCX doesn't limit the value between 0 and 1 indeed. I'm not sure if the sim clamps values in that case.

OK maybe the MCX text information at the bottom of properties needs changing . It says "(between 0.0 and 1.0)" for both Roughness and metallic.

The SDK mentions that the sim expects this range as well, but apparently it also excepts values outside of this range (probably they are clamped).

Hello,
I have a problem with the guid, in fact when I export the model to MSFS glTF and then I reload the model in mcx, the guid has changed so that I cannot find my model in MSFS. I have tried several times and still the guid is volatile. Maybe there is a parameter to check?
thanks arno.

Hi,

Do you have the option to write the XML file set to true in the options?

Also, are you using the latest build? I only added support to read the GUID from the XML file last week or so.

Hi Arno!
I have a problem with adjusting the Metallic settings, if i put it different from 0, export and then import GlTF again, the value is reset back to 0. For roughness the values are stored ОК.
Could you check pls?

I'll have a look.

Hi,

Do you have the option to write the XML file set to true in the options?

Also, are you using the latest build? I only added support to read the GUID from the XML file last week or so.

I had the version of 09/26/2020 with "Write model xml" on "true" but since midday with the last release the guid remains fixed, the problem is therefore solved. Thank you !

Glad to hear it's working now.

Hi all,

I'm closing this thread as it is being used to discuss various issues now. Please start a new thread for each issue you find. That makes it easier to track things.
