• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

When I export from Gmax FSX MDL, the program works up to 88%, a message appears telling me that there is a face that has no texture, I agree, it goes to 89% and keeps showing the hourglass but nothing doing . My operating system is W 7. Before with XP, worked fine.

im sure ive read a thread about gmax sdk exporting to 88-90 pecent but cant seem to find it, i bet arno will have an answer for this one :)

Hi,

Might be a permissions issue - try exporting a file to the Desktop?

When GMAX asks where do you want to export the file to, choose your desktop. It is not a "protected" area in Win7.

Or you can just choose some other folder *outside* any Program Files folder.

Hope this helps,

Ohh I can undestand now. Yes tgibson. It is other folder outside of the desktop

I never install anything fs9 or fsx related in ANY program files directory... there is too much in win7 going on in those folders that messes with alot of addon goodies...

I have my Fs9 installed in c:\Fs9 and fsx in c:\FSX... even my own documents are not in the My Documents folders... I have all folders of mine stemming from c:\ root....

it saves me alot in aspirin... :D

Could this be a , as decimal separator issue? or some other Windows regional settings issue.

Also, find xtomdl.exe and right click and set "Run As Administrator"

I have had no problem installing and using Gmax under Win7 x64, so it is possible the thread title is erroneous.

Gmax typically resides in its own C:\Gmax directory by default anyway, well away from the "protection" afforded by User Account Control ... and the SDK doesn't really seem to be bothered running in the default location.

Yes, make sure that the period (.) is your Windows decimal separator.

Hope this helps,

there is a face that has no texture

you need to fix this issue. You created a part that has a side or area
that did not get a texture applied. When using multiple textures you must
make sure you high light all left over faces and hit apply. This will make sure
you always cover all faces.

better find that part by exporting is sections...:(

you want to export the file to

Right to your project folder and over write. i create a shortcut from where gmax always opens. This way when i export 3,000 times in 3 months i save my self extra work.

Absolute correct. I do have a gmax object which has no texture applied at the bottem, and I get always this warning msg from gmax. However, the export works, and the mdl as well. So, as long as you know what the reasons is, it should not concern you.
