• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have been trying to do the house in the SDK and have got a problem. I can't seem to get the line ( the red one in the screen shot) to rotate right or to appear right. I think it needs to be where the ridge is or where a valley is. I just cant seem to get this right.
Thanks

Hi Joe,

I have done that tutorial too. I tapped the line shown in yellow. (see pic)
Just fiddle around a bit in that area and it should work.

Cheers,
Jaap

But.... shouldn't there be a line at the valley of the garage to the roof ridge and another at the ridge of the garage?
Those are missing. All edges are shown except the missing 2 and the red one in my shot that really shouldn't be there.
Thanks
Joe

Joe, you never wrote back after I suggested turning the edge. did you try that?

Bob

of course there are many ways to skin a cat in gmax....the tutorial writers never suggest their way is the only way.

Yes ....I did turn it. It went the other way, from the ridge in front to the valley at the eave where it intersects the house. Not that way it should have..... I don't think. To my thinking there should be a wire fram at all valleys and ridges and corners. In short.... all nodes that are an edge should be shown as a line.... not as this line is shown. There is no ridge there, or valley.
Of course....This is my first project in Gmax... never done one so I don't know whats right or wrong.
I have used Autocad for about 10 years. I'm basing this on using FSDS and Autocad.

Hi Joe

I think that your problem is comming from the fact that you have not selected the whole house.
Pls look att my attached pic of my "house project". In the first picture is the house not selected, just marked. In the secons picture has i selected the whole house by draging a "selection box" around the whole building.

When this is done and you have "Edged Faces" selected so do you see all lines.

Hope that I understod your problem right so I don't just "talk rubbish".

Regards

Gerth

Hi Joe,

I have done this tutorial as well. I found numerous errors in the instructions. Following the tutorial to the letter just doesn't give the roof as shown. I ended up ignoring the tutorial for that part and just tried figuring out what the turning actually did.

In the end I got what was shown in the pictures. Good luck with it. You will get there. It was my first model as well :)
