• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi to all:)
I'm a GMax beginner and sometime I find problems in applying textures.
For instance (i/e lake boat "Concordia", see pictures) I had the main model by some solids (boxes&tubes) duly meshes modelled.
Well, when I applyied textures for the first two solids (keel and hull) no problem (avoiding comment on textures precision, please); but at the tird one (upper deck), there is no way to go on! planarmaps are fixed and editable and all seems right, but after exporting model, his view is bad: all the deck is black!!

There is somebody that can drive me "step by step" on the right procedure?:wizard:

:p Hundred thanks to the "angel" that shall help me in this way

Aldo ... a diesel mind

OK, some tips ...

Convert your part to editable poly or editable mesh.

If not already done so, Apply the material with an associated diffuse texture map to it. You should immediately see it spread out across all surfaces.

Add a UVW Map modifier, giving some best guess square length/width dimension, say 10 x 10 meters, or more than enough to cover the surface to be textured.

Select a suitable Viewport, say Top (best for horizontal surfaces).

Click View Align, to align your map (in this case to look top down).

Add a Mesh Select modifier. Select the polys you want textured, i.e. the upper deck.

Add the UVUnwrap modifier and go to edit.

In the long run you may want to get acquainted with the LithUnwrap way of doing things. Do a Search here for more tips and details.
