• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

I am using GMa'X, and for some reason, it is stuck in wireframe mode, as I can only see the outlines of the model:

This is my first time using GMa'X, I do not know how to turn off wireframe mode. How do you turn this off?

Right-click where the Viewport says "User" and select a different mode from there.

I think if you have a low spec pc or laptop, wire frame is not a bad thing.
If you have a complex model, you look around so fast might cause program crash.
I know a guy who fried his vga chip in laptop using gmax for making model.
You can use degradation override if you think there is a lag while you move your model or you experience crash quite often. This button will save your model from crash. I had to make a complex model all over again from gmax crash in the past. After that bad experience, I always use this button except when I make lines over satellite photos.

You cannot fry your graphics chip using Gmax, unless the cooling on the chip is faulty to begin with.

Usually a single viewport with surfaces is the workflow I would use. The rest are wireframe, not for performance ... mainly so I can see what on earth is going on.

gMax is an old program, and not very taxing on modern graphics chips at all, really. At least not under directX. Not sure about the other drivers.

One of my computer is quite old. It is Athlon 1.2 Ghz with 256 mb of VGA memory. When I do degrade overide, it can save stuttering to my computer quite well. You guys have more modern PC. No problem about this at all.
OMG, my PC is almost ten years old now. Can you believe that?
