• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GP editor taxiway markings question

I notice that when I want to texture a line, I can select taxiway markings, but I cannot select any of the white lines within the taxiway texture sheet. Yellow line options are in the pulldown menu but white lines are not.

Todd

That's because there are no line definitions for them. (I saw no reda used for those lines so didn't bother creating definitions.) You can create additional definitions using the GP Texture Editor - available from the ADE Tools menu.

I read the manual on creating new definitions. I'm confused, though, on how to know where the start and end pixel is.

Staying with the lines theme: I was wondering if someone would be so kind to create an enhanced taxiway centerline and a dashed double yellow line. I tried using Photoshop, but it's frustrating as hell. I would be much, much obliged.

Hi,

Open the texture (the 24 bit version) in any paint program. Then move your mouse to the left and right edges of the line you want to define (usually you choose the first colored pixel at the left and right edges). Read the pixel position of your mouse (usually at the bottom of the screen) and write down the left and right edge pixel numbers. Use these for that line definition.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

You're welcome. BTW, my comments assume vertical lines. If they are horizontal, replace left/right with top/bottom.

Todd, just happened to be looking at my patterned line texture and recalled your comments about no double dashed yellow line. It is available on the base texture, but not defined. It starts at pixel 65 and is 20 pixels wide. I'll be including a definition for it in the next release ADE.

EDIT: Sorry, that should be start pixel 32 and width 22 pixels. (I was measuring the double solid line before).

If you would clarify what you mean by "enhanced taxiway centerline" perhaps I'll find it too is available.

Don,

Here's the enhanced taxiway centerline I was speaking of. It is becoming very common at busy airports.

Unfortunately, it can't be drawing using the existing texture configuration.

If it's a common texture, it should be in the starter set, and would be simple to add. I'll do something later in the week.

Hey Don,

The new base textures don't have an alpha channel so all my dashed and hold short lines are solid yellow etc.

Any chance you like them that way? ;)

Those are all generated automatically, so I don't know what happened. I'll make a new set tomorrow - and check that the alpha channels are included.

Don

Thanks Don!

What I mean is that the dashed lines are now lines with no dash (if that makes sense).

New base textures have been uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com. These do contain the alpha channels. (My automated texture conversion process has a manual override that was active when the earlier batch was produced.)

Don,

I installed your new textures but when I go to texture a line poly, the menu does not include the file with the taxiway enhanced centerline.
