Ground poly appears black

Hey everyone,

Currently doing some modelling work after a long break, I've created a ground poly in 3DS max. When applying textures to the object (.bmp files 24 bit) they appeared black until I added a UV Map modifier over it (never happened to me before). I then exported it as a .x file and opened it in MCX using the Ground Polygon Wizard, textures appeared fine with no errors (see attached picture) and exported it. Opening it in FSX the entire ground poly is black (see attached picture) and I'm unclear on how to fix it.

Also how to I hide/remove the default taxiways? I presume either deleting them or moving them over the taxiways I have created.

Cheers
DPG

p.s. sorry if my explanation is a bit unclear, not sure how to word it

As for the black ground poly make sure your textures in FSX are DXT compressed. Convert your default taxiways to apron paths. This will remove them from view but keep the ground hardened. IE no dirt flying up as you taxi along.
