• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSXA Ground Poly Supressing Autogen

Hi,

I am making a ground poly for an airport using the FS2002 MakeMDL and BGLC9. The issue is that random areas around the poly have suppressed autogen. I was reading a topic started back in 2006 about this same issue, but there was no answer in that topic that seemed to be a for-sure fix and everything I tried from that thread did not work.

You might want to try the ground polygon wizard in modelconverterx. It has an option to keep autogen. But it only works if you group the polygons in smaller areas. And sometimes there are some issues with shadows afterwards.

Thanks Arno. Does the Ground Poly Wizard compile to an FSX BGL or does it use BGLC9? And do I need to use the Pandasoft X file exporter, or can I use the X file exporter plugin provided with the FSX SDK for 3DS Max?
 
Going by the volumetric grass tutorial by Lars, I believe you do need to use the Pandasoft exporter in this case.

The wizard uses scasm and produces code that is equivalent to the fs2002 gamepack.

For input any format that modelconverterx can read are supported. That includes x files.

Arno, I am getting suppression of the entire ground poly with the autogen option in Mcx. Any help would be appreciated.

Fsx or fs2004? The tweak in modelconverterx only works for fsx at the moment if I remember correctly (would have to check that).
