• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Ground Poly with SKP

Hey,
I am trying to create GPs with SKP but getting very low texture resolution when I press "Make Unique Texture". Any idea how to bypass this issue?

Looking for something like this?

Edit it. Make it what you want it to be and go from there.

I see what you got here, but my satellite is not good enough to create GP directly from it. I want to bring my own asphalt texture ib order to achive the best quality I can get.
Tile the asphalt texture to get a high resolution surface and overlay it with the satellite image to get some variation.

Tiling would be done in Sketchup. You simply use a small texture for a large surface, and allow Sketchup (and FS) to repeat it over the large surface. it will do this automatically.

Hey, I know how to apply texture to a surface in SKU but how do I overlay it with the satellite image?

You cannot do that in any program I know of - you cannot map polygons with more than one "normal" texture at a time. With normal models you either do that in the bitmap itself, or create a new polygon that is on top of the underlying surface and is mapped with the desired texture. If creating ground polygons, you use a higher layer number for the polygon you want to be on top so it has display priority over the underlying one (all polygons are at ground level).
