• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground polygon issue...

I have a peculiar issue with a ground polygon made with Sketchup and converted/placed using the ground poly wizard in MCX.

I've checked my flatten and the alt set in the ground poly wizard and they're both set at the same. But I get this flickering and bleed-through in certain areas of the ground polygon. These seem to be defined by certain aspects of the sketchup model. For example, one set of screenshots shows the bleed-through effectively 'cut off' where an axis line is in the sketchup model, and the other set of screenshots shows where the bleed-through is 'cut off' where a reference image is in the sketchup model. On the areas of the ground polygon that don't flicker and bleed-through, it seems fine! But does anybody know why certain areas of the ground poly have this issue?

Thanks!

I would check to be sure that each vertex point in the flatten is at the correct altitude precisely. Also be sure that no addon terrain mesh is overriding your flatten.

I turned off 'slice polygons', 'group polygons' and 'optimize reference point location' in the ground polygon wizard and now the polygon seems to display correctly.

Hi there, I too had this problem. From what I have seen, this happens when you have many layers one over the other (I don't know whether the term "layers" is correct here, I mean when two things overlap each other). This will be solved after you remove the Geo Location. Another thing you can do is to invert the faces (I am not sure however), but removing Geo-Location is what helped me solve it :).

Hi,

Flickering can be caused by overlapping polygons indeed. Especially if you give them the same layer in the GPW. Not sure why unchecking those options then fixed it, but maybe the performance optimizations that the GPW do actually mess up the order of these polygons a bit when they are all on the same layer.
