• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I've seen many projects with great asphalt texture but can't seem to find any myself which are any good.

I've tried making some but they all result in some form of tiling so far.

If anyone would be kind enough to share any texture .bmps, I'd very much appreciate it.

tiling is my problem as well.

Yes, take a texture with enough resolution (1024x1024) and of course make them "seamless", to tile up the texture along the runway, or divide the runway in many segments, and texture every polygon.
If you get a tool that could do that would be better.

Thanks or the replies. I just googled seamless asphalt and found a few

Should have thought of that in the first place... I was looking on turbosquid.com to begin with, but they didn't have anything that great.

there are many, I have heard of this tools but not search for any free, they are all payware, though there are many demos, thinking we not make an instensive use of this textures, maybe reading some tutorial for phtoshop, or any other image editor could be wise.

@Shaun
There is a free source of textures you can use and even get some tips and tricks for using photoshop at the same side:
http://cgtextures.com/

The textures can be used in payware and freeware gaming projects but must not be selled itself e.g. in an image collection or so.

You will find some seamless textures for concrete-ground and also some metal-textures also prepared for tiling

Do you mean that you have problem with seam of texture?
If I understand it right, take a look at this tutorial for photoshop. http://www.photoshoptextures.com/texture-tutorials/seamless-textures.htm
Or you can search in google for "seamless asphalt texture".
Thanks Tic for the hint of the nice small manual. I always managed to make my textures seamless when necessary but this is a much easier way than I did.

Thanks Joerg for your comment.
I forgot about cgtexture.com which I use very often.

However the tutorial that I posted will make you capable to do any textures you like to be seamless. I once took a picture of my garage floor to be the texture in FSX. It is fun to do that yourself.:D

You are completely right, I tried the method which is explained in the manual and it is much faster than my way to do it in the past.
It was really no problem to get a result in less than 5 minutes.

Thanks for the link which is for me one further proof of the good community at fsdeveloper.com
