Having CTDs with 1.47.03

Hey all,

Just updated to the latest version. But when I go to my Lists/Images window and select an image I get a fatal error and program closes.

So thinking maybe that file got corrupt in some way I opened another file and added a new background image. Seemed to save ok. Went back to the image list and select the image to not be visable and wham... another CTD!

help!

thx,

Clutch

(thinking I should go back to version 1.45 in the meantime?)

Please send me the log file. For ADEX it is in the FSX sub folder and for ADE9 it is in the FS9 folder. The latest one will be log_201001.log. Send it to jon AT scruffyduck.co.uk.

Thanks

I have the log and can see the error - however I cannot replicate the CTD here. I add several background images to a project. Open the list and select an image. Then click the checkbox to change the visibility. So far I cannot induce a CTD. If it is replicable for you can you please describe in detail the steps you are taking so that I can try to re-produce the error here?

Thanks

Could be Tom but I just tested her with a bmp and it worked fine

I will try to do a step-by-step tomorrow. Oh, and I am using .jpg files, not bmp's. Could that be the issue?

No the format should not matter - the error does not appear to be related to format

Ok, I've had some more tie to look at this. This is using my laptop running Windows XP 32 with 2gig of RAM. Here's what's happening:

1. Start ADE9x 1.47.03
2. Open prior project that now had the AD2 extension. This project already has some maps applied to it. One map is showing, others are not visible. The visible image is a 450Kb jpg. I have broken this down into separate jpgs each being about 150kb. (so I can switch back and forth depending if I want an overall view or just a segment).
3. I click on Lists and then Images. If I just as much as select (highlight),the current image that is visible it immediately crashes.
4. Otherwise, if I select one of the non-visible images and then click Image Visible box, it crashes.

Now a few other observations. I opened another project that has the older ADE extension. It has no maps. So I added a map. This first time around it loaded fine and I could make it visible or not via the checkbox!? Ha, maybe just that one file is corrupt? But then I did it a second time with the same file (I did not save it previously), and this time it did crash.

Also, the desktop PC I was using an earlier version (1.46 I think) and to my delight this seem to be working fine. My desktop is also a Windows XP, 2gig machine. I could open and close images and kept working on the file. But then I noticed as I kept working the program seemed to get slower and slower and then finally it too crashed. It sorta felt like a slow memory leak. And now that file too will crash every time I select an image already visible or select another image to be visible.

So I guess I am at a holding pattern with my work. Not seeing anyone else posting the same issue (rats), so I hope it's just not me.

Hope this helps.

I will certainly look at this. Would you mind adding it to the Issue Tracker Please? I am not too happy with the code around showing/hiding background images and although I cannot replicate at the moment I think something is not right

ADE9x Error message

I wanted to post what I see when I get the error message. This happens with all versions I have tried. However I can say I started from scratch today with version 1.45 and was able to use it for several hours with no problems. I was about to update to 1.46 (testing along the way each version), when I finally got the crash.

I have a total of 7 images I was using. One overall image and then having six smaller ones all sliced up of the one large image. I would go back and forth. But then it seemed ADE9x got confused. Or perhaps it was just some serious lag time as I would turn off an image and it would still be visible. Look at first attachment. Notice all images are FALSE but you can see an image in the project.

I will try and look at the code again this week.

Thx Jon, really appreciate the attention. I sure hope it's not just me as it appears no one else is experiencing this. :(
