• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Helicopter Ai

Hello,

How can this be done? What i'm looking to do is to have some helicopter takeoff from the heliport, fly to the harbour and then fly back to the heliport. I'm assuming that the heliport will have a separate afcad, but how do I tell the helicopters to fly up and down the harbour without landing? Can I use the default Bell as the helicopter?

Thanks

Aaron

Aaron,

look at avsim "maiw_1-130th_avn.zip".

AI helis must have a special .air fle and a special .cfg file.

To fly to the harbour you have to make a "fake" airport.

Take a look at the packages of maiw. There are many afcads for "fake" airports.

Regards

Horst

Hello

Even if you add "flying" helis in your traffic, they will never be considered; you can keep your textures, but need specific models.
You'll find a good package for main common helis at:
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/F-LBNR/ (go to catalogue)
(you may even ask author for personal models or repaint).

Concerning airports, you have to create a specific afcad for helis; if no, you'll have helis waiting and running on your main runway.

About flightplans: common AI flightplan are more accurate for flights with long legs, rather than precise, short flights of helis. Personnally, I created an heli traffic over "small" Reunion Island, with realistic tours to "cirques" (canyons), volcan,...
I create a FS flightplan with all waypoints to follow canyons, go to tourist spots; then , with SDK Traffic ToolBox, when rightclicking on desired heli, you choose item: assign a flighplan; then AI heli immediately starts its flight. This allows very precise traffic; you may launch several heliwith this method.
Problem is that you have to launch manually this flight; I don't know how to program it and make it automatic like usual traffic (thanks if anybody knows how to!).
You can find screens at:
http://www.francevfr.com/index.htm
forum, then search for Reunion or Helilagon topics
(I can't get the direct link)
