• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Helicopter (MET) power problem

Hi,

I am actually running into a problem with the "power" of my SeaKing. I have power set in a way, that I finally have stable Rotor_RPM at all states of the flight, but, upon achieving that, the helicopter handles a little weird out of ground effect. I climbs. Even with very little collective the thing climbs as if beeing paid for it and I need a lot of nose down to convert vertical speed into forward motion. I use helitrim, but even with that, it it really hard to get rid of the climb tendency.

Apart from that, available power within ground effect feels right, and, when stable forward motion is finally established, speed and torque do correspond. When bleeding off speed for landing, again, ridiculous tendency to climb... Any ideas?

Hey MN,

just my quick two cents..
You should try to lower
inflow_vel_reference
in the Main Rotor section of the aircraft.cfg. It has NO effect on torque, MOI, etc, but it HAS effect on maximum speed and lift. Just these two are effected by this entry.
(test it,,you could set it zero..all gauges would be perfectly normal, only the helo wouldn't lift off)

So, in order to get rid of the maximum speed then, I would advice you to lower the drag value in the Fuselage section. Two profits: 1. your extreme nose down attitude would improve 2. maximum speed remains high.

------
So, decrease inflow_vel_reference and decrease drag value...

Best regards,
Steven
