• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Helipad Lights and Taxi

HI All,

I am revamping the Charity Scenery EGLW scenery. However, i cannot work how to bring a green light glow for the taxi lights to an elevated higher position. As you can see the heliport has a helipad that jets out in to the river. There should be green lights on around it at night and stop bar should have yellow flashing lights.

Is there anyway to do this outside of blender in the sim?

Click on the airport object and in its properties there is a light presets section.

This allows you to use in sim lights. You can set colour, intensity, size and phasing for stuff like flashes.

You have to select a model mesh to attach it to so I use something like the warm medium light from fs-base that has no mesh.

They can only be placed with light rows.

I create a light row of two points very close together and then duplicate one light row per light model. It takes quite a bit of noodling to get the right height and the coordinates system is so bizarre I prefer to only set the height and use physical placement of each light row.

You can place the light row vertices at each point where there should be a light and then just tick "Snap to vertices" - then there will be one light at each point! No need to make small lightrows and duplicate...
