• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Help with a CG/trim problem

Hello

First off I am not a aircraft modeler. I have done some .air and cfg file tweaking
over the years but it's been a while.

I am trying to set up Mike Stone's Boeing B314 Clipper for use in FSX.

In FS9 the aircraft sits normally....nice and level in the water. But under FSX she
sits very nose low. When you apply power the nose does come up but it seems
like a constant fight with the trim. As a matter of fact when you are sitting on
the water pre-takeoff the rate of climb shows a negative rate.

Here is the weight and balance from the CFG.

max_gross_weight = 82500.000
empty_weight = 50268.000
reference_datum_position = 0.000, 0.000, 0.000
empty_weight_CG_position = 0.000, 0.000, 0.000
empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 1400000.000
empty_weight_roll_MOI = 1400000.000
empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 2800000.000
empty_weight_coupled_MOI = 0.000
CG_forward_limit = 0.000
CG_aft_limit = 1.000
max_number_of_stations = 5

station_load.0 = 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, Station 2
station_load.1 = 0, 0, 0, 0
station_load.2 = 0, 0, 0, 0
station_load.3 = 0, 0, 0, 0
station_load.4 = 0, 0, 0, 0

Where do I start looking?

Thanks
Ken

Even before you apply power the Vertical Speed gauge shows -500ft/min.
After you apply power the aircraft does bring the nose up and the takeoff run is
level. After takeoff trimming the aircraft is a constant struggle. In the flights I've
made so far I never managed to get it trimmed to the "hands off" stage. In FS9
this same aircraft by Mike Stone would trim out nicely.
