• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Help with Scenery Area Problem

Ok I think we are getting somewhere

2 separate airport tests bellow

1. I edited a CAX3 manually in the scenery cfg file and in scenery 0101 folder and it showed in the add-on scenery index library as priority one. Then when I try to load the CAX3 from the add-on is says the path already exists. Load up a free flight and does not show on the airport list.

2. I created a dummy airport and placed the BGL normaly in the add-on scenery/scenery folder with the BGL file and repeated from loading as in #1 with no show in airport list.

I tried to edit both airports via load BGL in the ADEX editor and it would not load telling me it did not exist.

[Area.143]
Title=CAX3_ADEX_MB
Local=Scenery\0101
Layer=142
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

[Area.144]
Local=Addon Scenery\scenery
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=143

So neither airport you added will show in the list, and they are both in the active scenery library location of addon scenery\scenery

Yes they say the directory exists... But will not show in the airport list and when atemt to load in ADEX as a BGL edit show non existent

2 questions:
Question 1, what do you mean it is nonexistent to ADEX? You shared the BGL file with us, we verified it was valid and worked. How are you trying to load it?
If you are trying to load the BGL, you must select FILE: OPEN AIRPORT FROM BGL: then locate the airport and open.
If you are trying to load the AD2 file (AD2 file is NOT readable by FS, it is ADE only) then you select OPEN AIRPORT, select the correct ad2 file and open.
If you are trying to load a stock airport, CAX3 is not a stock airport, therefore will not show up in the list inside ADE.

Question 2, have you added any other addon airports within the past day or 2 that have appeared in the airport selection list? Any addon airports, doesnt matter if its a new creation, or a replacement for a default.
Ive had this issue before, but it was for FS9 and was easily fixed with repair of the FS9 directory using the disk. My problem is I like to play with the files a little more than my knowledge limits allow. Trial and error works well for Java and HTML, CGI, and other internet coding, but not so much with programming, especially without the right tools and in some cases, source code. I dont do that like I used to, but I have had my share of issues with FS98, 2k, 2002, 2004. The scenery.cfg error you had I also had, and was fixed with an edit of the file, however I havent ever tried to add anything to that list before, as I beleive FS modifies those automatically when you activate folders for scenery.

Hmm, it seems to me that you are trying to add a custom airport, but are not succeeding. And after all this, it will not show in the available airports when FSX is open and you are selecting an airfield.
Now, I know the UAC can interfere with changing files and such, but it shouldnt affect the native check load of airports when FSX starts up.
Therefore, there are only a few possibilities.
One being your scenery folder is not listed as Active in the scenery activation setting of FSX Settings
Two your BGL files do not contain the airports correctly, have become corrupt, or other means of failure, but cant be seeing how we can open and view your bgl files with no issue.
Three, scenery priority could play a part, but seeing how your airport doesnt exist by default, you are adding it from scratch, there is no priority issue with the load.
Four - somehow one of your files in FSX is corrupt, however I kind of doubt this, but its possible. I would suggest a repair to confirm, unless you have already reinstalled or repaired FSX.

Could be FSUIPC, but rather doubt it because FSUIPC only reads data for external apps and such from my understanding. Dont think Addon airports have anything to do with it.

Ok right now I am stumped, or just tired, cant really determine.

After reading my previous post, make sure when you are in the airport selection window, than your region, state, country and city entries do not contain anything. Other words, make sure they all read ANY.

SUCCESS
Many Thanks and for everyone’s patience

Was looking in Canada, BC found it listed in all now I need to figure out how to list in appropriate location.

Ok all fixed and I feel like a fool the problem was I had the city and country mixed.... my sincere thanks and apologies
