• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I guess I need to name a session or else others can't join. How do I name my session when I an hosting. right now I do not see anywhere to do that. Bob

Neither do I.
I wonder how come as well.
I could try FShost or some others but I would prefer to do it through P3D's own multiplayer program.
Heard more people have problems that are often related to firewall or router settings.

When you go in to host a multiplayer session... one of the settings is the room name.

And????? See, I see the place to put a session name but there is no way to enter a name for it. I will look again.

P3D4.4 I see 'session name' which is blank. I will try to click in the blank space and type and see what happens. I think I tried that already and nothing worked. Will report back.

Nope, can't type anything there in 'session name'. I have tried optional notes (I think it is called) but that's not it, and description is not it. This is when I have chosen to be host. In the scenery, at rwy, network, sign in with my name, I leave everything alone for settings, choose 'host' - I see session name... cannot ty0pe anything there.

Go to Network -> Multiplayer.
Type in a user name.
Click "Sign In".
Opens to "Distributed Simulation Session Selection" dialog.
Click "Host Session".
Opens to "Create New Session" dialog.
1. Set Room Name (that's the session name).
2. Set a password to restrict access... seriously... use one!
3. Set as either public or private... private isn't listable on the network.
4. Set number of players allowed.
Click "Ok".
Opens to "choose Your Scenario Options" dialog.
1. Select/modify options (it loads by default whatever was set at the main scenario screen).
2.When done, Click "Ok".
Opens to "Distributed Simulation Session Lobby" dialog.
1. When ready to load in... click 'Go".

That's it.

A ha! Therein lies my problem. I do not see 'room name' …………. unless I'm blind as a bat.... which may very well be. ;) screenshot attached.

See your name? Bob? To the left of it... "Room Name" Your room name in that dialog is "Bob".

Told ya I was bling! haha Thought I had to leave that alone since I signed in as bob will try that. Thanx.

I am pretty sure I have it right now..... thanx to you. Most appreciated! Only trouble now is the two fellows who were wondering how to get this to work found, or I deduced that they do not have a port forward open. They will attempt to get into their routers and correct the problem. I sent them a port forward app to help them check if they have a port open. Anyway- will let ya know of further developments... just for giggles! Again thanx for the wonderful help. Bob
