• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How do I close runways with ADE?

I am still very new to ADE and was wondering how I can close a runway that is no longer in use? I am currently trying to edit KFTY Fulton Co airport to close Runway 9/27. I know how to delete runways, however, current satellite imagery shows that the runway is still there and obviously inactive, but it has not been fully demolished.

It's on the Pattern Tab

If you want the big red X to appear on the runway ends go to the Markings tab and select primary closed and secondary closed.

I have the pattern for landing set to NO at KBUR for runway 26. Nevertheless, ATC still forces me to land on it (which is not done in actual use) when the wind is set from the west. Any tips here? It’s really frustrating to request ILS on 08 and be told to circle to land on 26.

There is no reliable way to do that, but you can try deleting the start location for runway 26.

The only way to definitively close a runway in FSX/P3D is to destroy it. Don't use the 'add runway' dialogue for a piece of concrete/tarmac that is no longer used as a runway; as you've discovered, FSX/P3D will find a way to use it. Create a helper shape to the dimensions of the runway, and use [right click] 'make apron' to place it where the runway was.
