• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

As the title says, How do I make them?

I am having the greatest difficulty animating them symmetrical on both wings, I can do one wing but then the flaps on the other wing just wont line up at all !

How do you guys do it ?

Fr. Bill (N4Gix) has a really good thing he does with animating things on both sides. I do not remember how it works, but he can walk you though it.

That Fokker is looking awesome! Remember in the aircraft.cfg, you have leading and trailing flaps sections (2 different sections) and you can adjust them also in there.

But he doesn't do Blender... If it were Gmax or Max I could give you a useful method, but you'll need a Blender modeller to walk you through this, sorry!

It frustrates me as well not being able to help blender users. There should be a title notice for the modelling software used. That way the knowledgeable people will respond. And dummies like me will know to refrain from comment. ;)

Well maybe ideas from other programs can be used in Blender too ? anyway the flaps are so difficult :P

That's the thing, in Max/gMax it is a very simple animation.
Make sure your pivot points are corrected if you mirror from left to right and that they are properly oriented to the world. The stock animation code should then operate the flaps properly.

I still don't understand how to do it :/ I am pretty much stuck with my model.

In max it simple:
- make sure no animation apply yet.
- make sure no degrees rotation being made (if flap movement is rotation)
- check if flap have angle (X, Y, Z)
- copy the model part,
- mirror it,
- move X coordinate position (like negative to positive, vice versa. no different number value),
- adjust model angle to met with wing frame (some angle will opposite with master copy model)
- select both model,
- make sure local axis selected,
- start making animation and frame,
- done.

there would be many way to achieve that.

Can you show me/us pictures and/or animations from what you already have got so far on one wing side Osian?

Then I can help you further if you want to, since I've already tackled the animation-challenge in my YF-16 model over here:
- http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/wip-general-dynamics-“yf-16-prototype”-project.440049/ - WIP thread on FSD - see section 15,16 and 17 of the thread

By the way, great model, has Fokker HQ already contacted you?

By this time I have gone and completely animated the flaps on the other wing from scratch.

Looking good!

That is the best way to get like-wise things done in Blender Osian, since the mirroring-function does not always work the way you expect it to go.
