• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

1. The FSDeveloper WIKI is a good place to start understanding how to create this:
- https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page - Wiki homepage
- https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Terrain_Design - Terrain Design
- [ur]https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Scenery_Design[/URL] - Scenery Design

2. The FSDeveloper forum is crowed with scenery design / building experts

3. On Youtube you can also find lots of tutorial videos on scenery design for all kinds of flightsimulators:

- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fsx+scenery+design - FSX
- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=p3d+scenery+design - P3D
- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=xplane+scenery+design - Xplane

4. Connect / contact with the (freeware / payware) experts in the scenery-building field
This is a nice place to find a lot of sceneries creators who

5. Scrape the Internet for scenery-tutorial building websites:

I think this should get you started...

.....this is indeed former ACG Scenery of RAF Wattisham. ( Its the Ground Polygon ).

jyarddog@, if you do a search here on Fsdeveloper for “ Pete Beeby “ you will come across several threads, where this technique and it’s implementation are described in further detail.

The good news is, that going forwards our prayers might just have been answered and if you are thinking of purchasing the new MSFS, from what I have seen over the last few months, the need for techniques such as this could be pretty much redundant.
We will however, have to wait and see what is covered by the SDK When it becomes available to most.

Feel free to PM me if you wanted to discuss this further.

Regards,

Pete Beeby. Former ACG Designer.
