• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Just curious. How much time do ya'll spend flying vs designing sceneries (launching MSFS to see if your sceneries are working correctly counts as designing)

Good question :). I can hardly remember the last time that I really flew with FS. I sure launch it often to test scenery, tools or take a look at a scenery package. But usually I just slew around in FS.

Hi!

Nice to clear this out once and for all... now, if someone could program a counter that could tell me how many times I´ve started FS2004 - must be tens of thousands considering that you have to restart everytime you want to see some changes! :)

Hehe, yeah, that surprises me a little as well. It looks like it is mainly the real hardcore scenery designers that hang around here.

I thought I was slightly abnormal, but maybe it isn't that bad with me :D.

Well I am flying/controlling most of the time.. but I just started creating sceneries.. so I know that's gonna change soon hehehe

I wonder if slewing can be called 'flying' :D. I think I fly about 2 hours per month in average, so my designing-percentage should be around 95%. :o

Guys, when will we actually use this simulator? :scratchch

edit: woops, is the italic result the one I voted? Then I chose 80%flying by mistake, sorry! :o :o

You have time for a girlfriend ??? your supposed to be designing scenery ;)

Hm...flying? I'm spending more time with scenerydesign then I fly around. Usually it's only testing textures or new objects with a heli in slew mode.

I even spend more time in designing, then working for my virtual airline (Shame on me. :D ) Before starting with scenerydesign, I did more repainting, programming or webdesinging for my va, then flying around. So EDDF kicked Deutsche AL from the first place of "Daniel's work during many, many nights"...hm....i think I need a girlfriend.

Before wedding: 80% scenery design, 10% flying
After wedding: 0,5% scenery design, 0,5% flying, 90% house works :rotfl:
Bye Claudio

Depends on my mood!

If SGX or GMAX cracks the 100th time, I go flying a while ...

Right at the moment I would say 40% flying, 60% designing

at the moment :
20% Scenery design
60% Studying for my university exams :D
Fly 0% at the moment , I am on LOA
20% Social life  :p

yeah, since i started to design early 2005, i havent bothered to fly around much, want to finish an AP before i can fly to it :p ! But yeah, total time i think 60% designing, 15% MSN, indeed 3% loading, and the rest studying/eating. Thats now, in summer in NL i do about 1% designing and 99% partying lol.

Friday night was the first time I had taken time to do an actual flight in probably 4-5 months. I keep making plans to fly and end up breaking them at the last minute because of an idea or fix.

Dan was kind enough to drive to Phoenix the other day and we hung out with 2 other local simmers. Had a great time. Dan, hang with us. We'll give you your life back.

Hmmmm.... given the nice little bell curve shape of the poll I'm beginning to wonder if 110% designing would have gotten a response too :)

Looks like we're settling out at 80% designing with one of us still looking on www.scenerydesign.org for knitting supplies. :rotfl:

I suspected folks here spent more time designing than flying but I thought it'd be just over half. Now we know better! :)
