• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to alter AirportBounds geometry?

Hi,

How do I alter the AirPort Boundaries with FX Planner?

Not sure if it can be done through FX Planner, as the bounds come from cvx****.bgl, that file can not be read in.

Thanks
Bart

No you cannot do that in FSX Planner (or AFX, or ADE) you will need to use SBuilderX, FSX KML or the SDK tools to exclude the default airport polygon and create a new one

Thanks Jon for the responds.
It worked using FSX KML 1.10(Beta)

In Google Earth
================
- Draw a polygon (the transparency to 50% for easier drawing)
- Set the elevation in absolute height
- Save the KML file (not the default kmz file)

In FSX KML
==========
- Open the KML file
- Tag the polygon with the Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGen
- Build the bgl file

Note: changing the elevation in FSX KML 1.10 (beta) gave rounded numbers for lat/lon values; I think this is related to my country settings (,.)

Hello

This method allows only to create a new AB.

If you need to "alter" an existing airport (change place, elevation,...), first you must "clean" the existing place:

- create an Exclude_All_Airport_Boundaries polygon to get rid of the geometry of existing airport (flatten, ...); just needs this polygon touches the existing AB.
- create a dummy bgl to get rid of default FS airport data (get the xml file for the airport with SDE, edit =ask for details if interested=, compile with bglcomp, then install in FSX\Scenery\World\Scenery to be read first).

Then, you can work on clean new place created by AB..., ready to create a new "afcad" file with a tool such as ADE, FSXPlanner, AFX, ...), add scenery, ...
