Hi everybody,
Does anyone have a clue how to customize runway threshold and side lights in MSFS Scenery Editor ?
In the Runway options I can switch on/off default runway threshold and side lights placement and choose between low/medium/high, but the result is not satisfying : side lights placement doesn’t match the runway I’m modeling and I couldn’t find a way to have all threshold lights recessed in the ground — only a few in the center are recessed, others are on a pole.
Changing runway width and other parameters didn’t seem to help.
I tried designing in 3DSMax a custom reflector with 4 powerful light beams to act as a runway side light. It works nicely at short distance, but quickly becomes invisible when I move away the dev camera. As a result it’s totally invisible during approach even if I push the intensity to high values.
My problem is, I’m only able to set light beams, but no visible light source (like a bulb), so only the reflection of the light beam is visible in the sim. I can add an emissive texture to the light, but it’s so small it won’t get visible in the distance.
I’ve been searching in the default libs for the objects used by the Scenery Editor for default runway lights but without success so far — has anybody yet found them?
Has anybody ever created custom runway lights ? Or knows how to create visible light sources (not just beams) ?
Do you play with LODs to make bigger light models when seen from distance?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Antoine
