Hi.
I fly around Dublin EIDW a lot in my Cessna 172, without any hassle, no lock-ups, no BSODs. Normally I just simply land on Rwy 28, but I have landed on Rwy 10 a few times, without any trouble. I have also landed at and taken off from Weston EIWT and some other smallish airports around Ireland without any problems.
A few days ago I decided to do a scenic tour of the Dublin area. I came in from the Irish Sea intending to use the various local NDBs and VORs to guide me.
To my surprise, the sim froze. The sound continued but there was no mouse or keyboard reaction. I had to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to get out of it, nothing else worked.
I tried twice more and it failed in the exact same spot, 7.3 nm on the 283° from BAL VOR.
Frustrated, I then went to the BAL VOR from Dublin Airport and went out from the VOR on the 283° radial. No problem - I passed the 7.3nm mark without any freeze. I carried on out a bit, at 12nm I did a turn and came back in on the same radial towards the VOR. It froze again at 7.3nm distance!
Obviously (?) a scenery problem. The question is how to go about fixing it. I would like to know exactly what scenery is loaded when I am at 7.3nm from BAL on the 283° radial. I have a pile of scenery and mesh add-ons and I would hate to have to start a process of elimination if there is an easier way to locate the culprit.
Also why does it work properly going east from BAL and not when heading westwards to it?
I saw a topic in one of the forums telling how to see all the bits and pieces (including BGLs, if I remember correctly) called into play when a program is running - unfortunately I have no idea where to find it or the search criteria to help locate the topic. I don't even know what forum!
Can anyone help me out?
(Looking back at the above, I am sure there was an easier way of explaining the problem!)
Thanks
Walter
