• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

i can't get mission creation tool

Still down with OP.dll. C'mon guys you have to have an answer out there. Everything is correct but it is not starting. You are just looking at the OP.dll and not the other things that are needed to run it like SimConnect, FSUIPC, etc. HELP ????

How are we supposed to help? If you disable everything except the OPT in the dll.xml and also disable all external tools like autothumbnail you should get the OPT - there's not much more to help.

If you don't succeed try to reinstall the SDK.

Ok, I found the problem. Maybe we all thought the same thing and that is why we were having problems. I knew it was a simple problem and maybe we all missed it.

1. There was a SDK_SP1 released a while back and we assumed that we had the right upgrade. That was incorrect. The first SP1 was 92megs in size.

2. The new SDK_SP1a is 166megs and is a total reinstall of the SDK with a lot more fixes. But one thing it does is remove GMAX. Why, I don't know but it does.

So for all of you that were frustrated because you were doing things right and couldn't figure out why it was not working, the SDK_SP1a is the answer to your problems.

There we go......

Thanks for the update. Let's hope this will end some frustrations with the OPT. :)

Only the GMax install files have been removed from the SDK. I think this was done because they take up quite a bit of space, while you can easily download them from the web when needed.

I had the same problem as MattyHale. I had everything set up properly, but saw no simconnect window, and no tools menu.

I then watched the videos on fsxmission.com, and saw that the tools menu shows up in Free Flight mode. I went to free flight, and saw that the OPT was actually installed and running. This was very confusing, because I was expecting to see the Tools menu on the main menu in FSX, and didn't realize that it was actually in the Free Flight mode.

He actually meant that he expected the tool to appear in the main UI, not in the fsx itself.
But as we're talking about an ObjectPlacementTool I thought that would be selfexplaining. :D

I've read this forum and tried the things suggested here (absolute path and just enabling OPT, and I cannot get the "tool" menu to appear in the free flight menu. I viewed the tutorial videos and as far as I can see I am doing everything right, however my experience tells me that I have missed something small but critical.

Here's a paste of my dll.xml file

Do you have the dashes ( - ) in your file? I had this problem when I cut and pasted from the Mission Creation file text before the SDK SP1. It has been corrected in the SP1 file text.

Example:
- <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">

You should remove the dash.

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">

when you're in FSX-as in flying, you are pushing 'ALT' and looking for the 'tools' menu on the tool bar up the top of the screen right?

I Fully Understand Now

Here is what to do as Jib01 kind of said...

Install the SDK SP1 from FSInsider (Download Page) and install it and then the tool bar will magically re appear!!! :)
