• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Arno,

I followed your article about "Ground polygons ASM tweak" and tried to make 3 different layers : Ground, runway, taxiway .
After exported I got ASM files (I attached them here). I edited with ground.asm and copy and rename it as ground_layout.asm . In this file I managed :

Code:
OBJECT_0_START label word
    ADDCAT OBJECT_0_GROUND, 8
    ADDCAT OBJECT_0_RUNWAY, 12
    ADDCAT OBJECT_0_TAXIWAY, 16
    BGL_JUMP_32 OBJECT_0_END
OBJECT_0_GROUND label BGLCODE
    SCALE_AGL OBJECT_0_RETURN, 10000, 357, 131072, 000125A98h, 016FEh, 04BDA8F3Dh, 01751h, 0, 0
    include ground_0.asm

OBJECT_0_RUNWAY label BGLCODE
    SCALE_AGL OBJECT_0_RETURN, 10000, 357, 131072, 000125A98h, 016FEh, 04BDA8F3Dh, 01751h, 0, 0
    include runway_0.asm

OBJECT_0_TAXIWAY label BGLCODE
    SCALE_AGL OBJECT_0_RETURN, 10000, 357, 131072, 000125A98h, 016FEh, 04BDA8F3Dh, 01751h, 0, 0
    include taxiway_0.asm

And export this file to .BGL but I gor an error message :
Assembling : ground_layout.azm
g:\gmax\gamepacks\fs2004\ground_0.asm<29> : error A2005 :
symbol redefinition : ground_top
g:\gmax\gamepacks\fs2004\ground_0.asm<78> : error A2005 : symbol redefinition : ground_NonAlpha
BGLC: Error!

Please help me to find the mistake .
Thanks

Hi,

At the bottom of your tweaked ASM file you still have the origional line that includes ground_0.asm. That means it is included twice and that gives the error.

Hi Arno,
Yep, that's it . I fixed it and now it worked :)

I have another question, when I create a ground polygons with Gmax, I create a plane following your article and I lay down it -0.1m to Z axis . But when I start FS, the plane cover up some layers . It is necessary to create a plane ???

Thanks a lot, Arno .

I am not really sure what you mean with the plane (not all articles on the Wiki are written by me :)).

All the polygons you export to FS should be placed at an altitude of 0 on the Z-axis. The layer in the ADDCAT command that you tweak can determine their drawing order.

Sometimes you can add an additional plane in GMax to add a background image to for example, but that one you would not export then in general.

Hope that helps,
