• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I need a 'no frills' tutorial. Why does AIFP report "airport ICAO" is available only in when addon airports have been populated

Please open airportsList.dat and confirm that all 3 airports are included and that, as their final entry, they all have a "+" sign.

Here is the line (in AirportsList.dat for CAE5 which is the one I am trying to use -

Canada|British Columbia|Whistler|Whistler - Green Lake|50.1436749100685|-122.948999851942|633.0M|CAE5|||||C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\cae5-whistler\Scenery\World\scenery\cae5-airport.bgl||||+

I can send the zipped file if you want.

No need. That confirms the collect addons was fully implemented.

Incidentally, re my query on "Added my addon airport and saved", it is helpful if you use the "system" terminology, in this case "Collect airports". That way, it's much easier for me to understand.

The new (k) version does not display any warning - success at last. Isn't it about time you went to bed? I have been to BC and know about what time it would be there now.

Whew! Yes, it's early AM. Couldn't sleep.

BTW, thanks for the donation and sticking with me on this one. The error had been there since the introduction of MSFS 18 months ago. Strange it's not surfaced before. I guess not many people are "manufacturing" flight plans from scratch for MSFS.

Couldn't sleep.
I know about that BUT (as a tip although it may not work for you) I found when I had a ("IT") problem which I couldn't work out (eg an important monthly run program crash) and I was tired, I went to bed and more often than not when I woke I immediately thought of the possible solution and often it turned out to BE the correct solution. Sort of a step back and look at it from the outside.

Again well done. Now grabs some zzzzz's

Good morning Don,
Hope you had a good nights rest.
I guess not many people are "manufacturing" flight plans from scratch for MSFS.
As I am using addon airports other users may not have encountered the issue (as they probably have not been creating flight plans using addon airports). FS2020 has heaps more airports than FSX eve did and so probably not too many new (addon) airports developed for FS2020.
BTW do I remember seeing your name associated with the Vancouver+ and/or Victoria BC water airports for FSX years ago (in the readme)?

Lastly should I then use (k) in place of any other versions ie that the latest version on the web site 3.4.1.14 contains fixes?

Sorry to report what appears to be a bug in the latest (14) version.

It seems to be 'pointing' to the 13 version.
I unzipped it to a separate folder and run as administrator.

When I add my aircraft and save as it displays the folder AIFP3413\work instead of AIFP3414\work
I know that I probably can manually change the directory but thought it might be a problem for other users.
I tried removing the entire folder containing version 13 to see what would happen but then it selects (folder) Documents which is also incorrect.

Similar problem when I collect airports and save. They never get saved to the AirportsList.dat. Well maybe they get saved to the 13 version but when I attempt to use it the airport cannot be found.

OK I manually changed the directory on save and it works. I cannot remember when I first installed AIFP having to navigate to the correct folder when saving and so assumed that AIFP worked that out. Must be something saved to the registry to determine the correct location.

You should download and use the latest general release, i.e, 3.4.3.14. Any release with an alphabetic suffix is a development release. A general release supercedes all previous development releases.

AIFP displays the release number in the title bar of the Main Panel. I know of no mechanism in AIFP that would designate a folder in 3.4.3.14 as belonging to 3.4.3.13. Indeed, except for AIFP's internal folders, all folder names are assigned by the user.

Thanks Don. I did download the latest and it was the latest (14) that I referred to.
It seems that it isn't a problem as I manually navigated the the work folder in the AIFP 14 folder and it all worked correctly. I was concerned that the latest version was using the work folder in the 13 version and thought that it could have been hard coded in the application. It must be using data/pointers from one of the windows user folders (eg last one used by the user, like a cookie) to determine what folder to use. I firstly had looked in every AIFP menu for a preferences type menu item where I thought that such information came from but could not find one.

I have just posted Development Release 3.4.3.13(j) to http://stuff4fs.com.

I have not been able to reproduce the errant message re MSFS add-on airports not being available. Nonetheless, I believe I have found the cause and fixed it.

Since I can't reproduce the error, I must rely on you guys to confirm whether or not I have been successful,. To that end, please download and check the new development release. (It will be automatically detected if you have checking for development releases enabled.)
Don, I am no longer getting an errant message of any kind. I am using the latest release3.4.3.14. I am able to create a flight plan using my project KMDN without issue. As to the abandon entry message. I only get that when AIFP does not have a airport with that icao in the airport list. Everything works as should for me. Thanks.
