• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Im new to FsX planner can i get help please?

You first need to find the bgl file that contains the airport. Select File -> Find Airport. Then enter the icao code, which is KMSP for your airport.

Then convert the resulting bgl file to xml using BGL2XML.

Then open that xml file. It will contain multiple airports so you will need to specify KMSP as the airport you wish to open.

(The above steps will be much simpler after the next release)

Then once the airport is open you can make the modifications to the gates that you want.

Then compile the airport to a bgl file and make sure the new bgl file is in the addon scenery folder of FSX. (This last step should be done automatically if you have default installation paths for the sim)

Where do i find the KMSP BGL File? (Im not sure where to find it in the FS10 folder) if directed it would be much help
 
when i enter KMSP as the airport IACAO code i get this message---

the fs10.airports.dat file was not found
make sure the path to the file is correct

what shold i enter for the browse box

ex. C://____________________________??????

yes i have deluxe-

sp1a and sdk are both installed and updated-

would i fimd the KMSP Bgl. File within the SDK?

No. The KMSP airport will be contained within a bgl file located in one of the scenery subfolders of your FSX install. In order to determine which one, you need to select the File -> Find Airport option.

"Path to flight simulators SDK's fs10.airports.dat file i dont know where to put the browser finder to. if i leave it blank and enter KMSP fo the code i get a message saying that i need to specify and i dont know how to because i dont know what to put in the browser box.

FSX Planner should show the standard folder path by default.

This is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\fs10.Airports.dat

If you installed your SDK in a different location then you will have to specify that location instead of the one above.

How do you turn the XML to bgl?

or do i leave it and just put in in my addon scenery?
