• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Image file import

I can place airport image files with coordinates (SBuilderX) with no issues. However, I have to import the image and enter coordinates again every time I open the file, as the image is not saved. Not a big deal, I know!

I assume you are talking about adding a background image to ADE for MSFS?

Correct. No other problems with the image. When I close ADE and open the file again (any file), the background image is not there and it must be imported again. NOTE: I use the image as reference for altering placement on existing airports. It is not a part of the compiled file.

I would like to know how to do this, I need the background pic for many airports and airfields.

UK - if you have two way editing turned on then you will not currently be able to persist the background image but this is on my list. A background image should save if you have two way editing turned off but I may has disabled that by mistake also

Indeed, in ADE 2020 Alpha 21 HF5 2-way edit mode:

If a large background image is added to ADE 2020 Alpha 21 HF5, it loads after geo-referenced via corner coordinates.

ADE's GUI may be slightly slower to respond if such large images are loaded, but... it works on fast 64-Bit computers. ;)

HOWEVER...

* a saved background image is missing from Lists > Images if a ADE 2020 *.apf project file is re-opened. :banghead:

It would be very useful to have this working again ASAP via ex: a Hot Fix to Alpha 21.

Some of us need ADE to edit vertices into more precise Lat/Lon/Alt coordinates than MSFS DevMode GUI allows. :pushpin:

Thanks for all you do- and already have done-, Jon.
