• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ImageShack goes pay only

If anyone has been using ImageShack for free, yer time's up. I had a year's subscription at discount a while back and some hundreds of images (mostly screenshots) there, but in a few months they'll be gone because I'm too cheap to keep paying. This means any linked to web pages will disappear – tomorrow.

Happily the people at ImageShack are not going to just pull the plug and enjoy the gurgling screams. They've made a handy app available which will download all your images back to your PC, tablet or phone (er, why...?) and it's called SkyPath. You have a couple of months left to do this. I now have all my previously uploaded images in a handy folder and can stick whichever on another free hosting service.

Long live the cheap. ;)

Had something similar with Photobucket, all of the sudden my banner changed to some weird auto message from Photobucket... Too bad, means goodbye to the banner for a while untill I find a new image host. ;)

Used Imageshack as a first hosting company, but then SkyPath synchronizing screwed up. So I went to Photobucket, but after a while I got bandwidth issues (like @F747fly had with the "Look who's popular" message), so I moved to Google Drive. The latter works fine!

I do appologize for that, I've removed the banner now (atleast on this forum). Google Driveight actually be the best alternative, seems it has very little limitations.

Well, I needed "cheap space" for my project files, as well as backup storage space for my .max archives, so I went with a paid 1TB space at DropBox. It's relatively inexpensive so I may as well copy all my photos over there as well. I've had a paid account* at ImageShack for several years already. It works out to slightly under $2 per month.

I had completely forgotten that well over a year ago I'd set up my WD Personal Cloud device to automatically mirror all of the company .max files to my DropBox as well, which has worked out quite well since I can now give Colin full access to my DB storage so he'll always have access to his property.

I've noticed a few people using this and it looks like a great alternative to me. It took me 30 seconds to make an account, another 10 to upload my first image and here it is:

EDIT: It appears you don't even need to make an account if you just want to upload an image, get the URL and post it somewhere. I guess if you want to be able to browse your uploaded images later the account is required. This reminds me of the internet back in 1997, lol.

Never used Imageshack or Photobucket (BTW, that's pronounced Photobouquet) and I could care the least.
With free cloud space on Google, with my Google drive, my Microsoft account and my Yahoo cloud with my Android I have more cloud space then I know what to do with.

That's pritty need! Though I wonder if one wouldn't be able to somehow "claim" a project by posting images that belong to someone else though aren't connected to an account on that website... Or in other words what would the risk be when uploading without an account?

Yeah, easy as it is to make an account I can't imagine why someone wouldn't. I guess if you needed an image online for the purpose of committing a crime you could upload one from the McDonald's wifi and not be traced, lol.

Trying again:

Works now and I use the same service. Not bad for free.

I don't think that's a concern just don't post dick pics. :p
Lol, like the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances featuring one Hyacinth Bucket, pronounced the same?
I mentioned that pronunciation especially for you, I knew you couldn't pass up a comment.

Well not that in particular, but claiming you're making something with this. Just imagine someone uploading some renders of his project to that site and then someone else going to avsim, linking those images and saying it is his (though it isn't). No way you Can then tell it is actually your work. Because I normally could go to the account of my imagehost account and verify it, one way or the other, that it's mine. With this website that would become impossible. Ofcourse, why would someone do that? ;)

I guess what happened was that image was 1600x900 on my PC, I got the URL from the "full" page and tried to hyperlink it directly with the IMG tags, it worked for me because I had it cached but apparently you're limited to 1280x720 unless maybe you upgrade to the premium membership. I agree on not bad for free, it's like 7-zip or Notepad++ (or MCX, ADE, etc), just good stuff without a bunch of garbage attached.

I've been using Imgur (https://imgur.com/) for image uploading for a while now. No account required, uploader supports batch uploads, drag/drop, Ctrl+V pasting, or selecting using a dialog, and there's no resolution limit (though file size limit is 20 MB for non-animated images or 200 MB for animated GIFs).

Thanks for the link. We can always use new free posting services. The free one's usually have a limit before they ask you to purchase more space. With more posting space you don't have to worry about your image posts going missing on the forum later. I get disappointed when I look at an old post and all the images are gone for that reason.
