• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Installer stuck in minimized window

Hi,
When i run the FSX SDK (Retail from Delux disc) i first get a progress bar telling me that the installer is initializing, then it is minimized and never shows any windows and doesnt finish. I have tried rebooting and cleaning out my AppData/Local/Temp. The only log entry is i can find is this:

The description for Event ID 0 from source IDriverT cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Service started

Please send help!

Edit: The installer creates a temp folder with these files and then just stalls with no window:

Hi,
I had a similar problem. The disc made a lot of noise as if it was defective. I had installed the SDK without any problem just days before and had decided to relocate it. The problem turned out to be a conflict with the way data is encoded on the FSX discs and video software which I had installed after the first SDK install. MS recommended removing the software which was causing the problem, installing FSX and then re-installing the other. Rather than do this I went into Safe mode, copied the disc to a drive, restarted windows and installed from the new location.
