• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

Is it possible in FS9 to create an approach that requires tight turns onto final app??

The one I have in mind is the Seaward, and Highway visual approaches for runway 25L & R at PANC http://naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0807/01500SEWARD_VIS25L.PDF

If it is possible, I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to name it a visual approach?? rather an rnav or gps maybe??

And would it be possible to force the FS9 atc to issue that approach by default for rwy25 ops, to user and AI aircraft??

Thanks

Jason

Yes. I have some turns to final set at 83 degrees that the AI /User must fly as per ATC.

For PANC 25L or 25R the heading for the AI would be about 350 Mag degree across the bay inbound to EFYEZ Waypoint at 4000 ft.

When the AI flyover XIBLY descending they would make the left turn to final for either 25L /R.

None of the above for a clear weather approach. The only clear weather approach that AI understands is a ILS. That does not mean we add a ILS to the runway. We tag the approach in XML as a ILS so AI thinks they are on a ILS but they are actually on a visual 90 degree offset approach to the runways.

The User Plane as per ATC would fly the full approach as per your chart and as per the GPS Reciever. The AI plane would come into the approach at a different angle (more on the ANC arc) across the bay (350 mag degree heading).

And would it be possible to force the FS9 atc to issue that approach by default for rwy25 ops, to user and AI aircraft??

Once the XML approach is written and winds are from the west, ATC will instruct all Planes (AI/User) to fly the curved approach to those runways as the default.

I have PANC on a list to do the approaches but I have been waiting for someone to create a desent 3rd party scenery for PANC. I am talking to a very highend scenery design group now to see if PANC can be pushed up to the top of their design list (FS9/FSX hoping with fingers crossed).

Thanks for that info Jim, A real payware PANC is loooooong overdue. If that DG decide to take on the task, please ask them not to leave out Lake Hood

I'd love to have all my AI flying that approach. I was thinking of giving appraoch writing a bash, but it really doens't look easy. And if I do, You'll be seeing a whole lot more of me cluttering up the forum :D

Thanks again

J
