• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Issue with dual Monitors

Not sure where to ask this question, and hoping I can find someone who can help.

Here how my setup is:

I use a 22 inch Acer as my main monitor (resolution 1680x1050) and a 19 inch Samsung as a secondary monitor (resolution 1280x1024). I have these plugged in to a EVGA GTX 260. I have the nVidia dual monitor control set up in "Dual-View", which makes the 2nd monitor basically an extended desktop. I am running XP. I have the proper resolution set up through FSX.

When I start a flight in FSX, the Samsung monitor goes blank and then the FSX GUI goes away and nothing happens on the main monitor. I tried flying in single monitor view and had to Cntl-Alt-Delete and click "switch to" FSX to even get the game to come up.

If anyone has any ideas, it would be most helpful.

It sounds as though FSX is running in "Full-screen" mode. Try <Alt> <Enter> to switch to "Windowed" mode.

In full-screen mode, the second monitor will remain blank.

I have virtually the same set up ( a 22" WS Dell and a 20" Samsung) running with the res the same as yours.Nvidia graphics.
This is how I work mine in FSX.
Load FSX on the main monitor full screen mode. Switch on 2nd monitor( which will be black)depending on what I what to see on the 2nd monitor, select view, new view and that window will appear in the top left corner of the main monitor. Drag that new window over to the 2nd monitor and enlarge to whatever size you want. to change view on the 2nd screen right click for the menu and choose. The important thing is the mouse cursor must be clicked on whichever monitor you want to control.
I often use the 2nd monitor for the GPS and ATC screen just by dragging it across.
Remember to drag back any open windows on the 2nd monitor before shutting down FSX or they may not appear next time unless the monitor is switched on.
to remove menu just hold down Alt.
Hope you can make sense of this :)

After reading GHD's suggestions, I set the setting that is in the properties box on the desktop icon to open as maximized, and that worked. I just have to hit Alt-Enter any time I want to change a setting in game.

Thanks for the help all!
